Cycle Race of Italy, edition number 101
Arrival in ASOLO ( proseccoland )
Saturaday 22th May 2010
A “Giro” in memory of Fausto Coppi, fifty years after his premature death, yet without neglecting two other pedal masters like Gino Bartali and Marco Pantani.
The 93rd “Giro d’Italia” will certainly be an enthralling competition, as it is specifically conceived to emphasize the quality of climbing specialists with breathtaking stages through a number of historical sites.
It promises to be a hard, difficult race indeed, with few stopwatch kilometres but plenty of runaway chances for top quality climbers. The great mountain roads will define this post-centennial edition, after returning once again in the Province of Treviso.
More specifically, a leg will reach Asolo, the historical town of “One hundred horizons” where several poets, artists and great leaders hade their home. Before the most demanding ascents onto the Alps, the arrival in this world renowned gem will represent a brief break after another long climb to Mount Grappa, which cycling experts acknowledge as one of the most intriguing challenges.
