The great Renaisssance painter Cima at Sarcinelli Palace in Conegliano

Giovanni Battista Cima, better known as Cima da Conegliano and appreciated worldwide, will return to his home town next year through an exclusive exhibition.
Indeed a challenge for Conegliano, which will host over forty masterpieces by its most famous artist arriving from every corner of the world: Saint Petersburg’s Hermitage, the National Gallery in London, Moscow’s Puskin Museum and the National Gallery in Washington among the most important contributors.
From February 26th to June 2nd, the association Artematica will organize the first exhibition ever seen in town, whose title is “Cima da Conegliano. The poet of landscape”.
In fact Cima, beside Giovanni Bellini, was around 1490 the great inventor of the first Italian landscape depicting techniques – as explained by Giovanni C. F. Villa, the exhibition director. Other themes will be represented by holy or mythological images and Cima’s graphic exercises.
